A Skyline Panorama
The curves in this roof garden design embrace the sky and nearby woodland landscape, where an expansive hardwood deck continues the interior's clean-lined flooring, curving around a waterfall, and merging with a putting green. A low vase frames the mezzanine view, while two built-in seating areas provide copious entertaining, cooking and storage space. The uncluttered, minimalist rooftop garden design defines abundant outdoor lounging zones for basking in this skyward, roofscape suntrap, augmented by a surround sound system.

The instinctive, contemporary design follows the building's natural curve, meandering around a street corner amid the tree canopies of a local park. The roof garden adjoins the living space, and defines eye-level views of lush treetops, where its existing curve and woodland landscape inspired the design's curvature, distinguishing spacious hardwood decking and a golf putting area. Artificial grass delineates the curved walls; its arc culminates where a low vase frames a full-height window. The low maintenance design provides abundant space for large groups of guests to engage in golfing while enjoying hi-fi.
The arc formed by a sinuous artificial grass expanse complements the roof garden's gentle curve, flowing into a low-lying, fitted vase along the windows. The grass mimics a neighbouring sports ground, enhancing fluidity between the rooftop and its landscape backdrop. The faux grass requires minimal maintenance, contributing a long-lasting verdant surface. The outlines of columnar Lombardy poplars in the park are echoed with Feather reed grass silhouettes, while round Plane trees are reiterated by Phormiums, which were conserved from the original scheme and revived in a renewed minimalist layout.
Integrated Roof Garden
As the roof garden is constantly open to the elements, we planted low-lying foliage along its raised bed, preserving continuous views to the park with an integrated spacious bench, which doubles as a cosy daybed. While most of the flora is featured in built-in structures, we created a unique focal point for the large window vista, and since this zone is utilised as a London office, we designed a contemporary vase, powder coated in indigo blue – spanning a 3-metre elevation. Architectural Agapanthus provides see-through, tall scale in season, enhancing the rooftop design with evergreen foliage and blue petals.
The artificial grass blends seamlessly into a nearby cricket ground in colour and texture, utilised for putting practice. The deep seating was designed as an informal daybed, where soft, cascading foliage soaks up plenty of sunshine, beside a small waterfall which augments the roof garden's framework with a soothing ambience, and aptly deflects continual traffic sound. The beige sandstone glistens, as water flows across its veined surface into a lower pool. The natural materials narrate a warm outdoor space, enhancing a contemporary terrace design, where a fluid layout, amid a luxuriant expanse of green, produces an immersive interplay under energising London sky.
